A Glimmer Through the Doom

with one comment

Perhaps the doom may be averted yet. Though Mitch McConnell appears to have a tin ear on earmarks, he seems to otherwise get it. John Boehner is clearly on board with the starve the beast agenda. The democrats have their eyes firmly shut, fingers stuck firmly in the ears, and are going ya ya ya ya ya ya all the way home. Pelosi remains unchided. Perhaps she is unchidable. Those are better signs than were present on election night.

Also, the news that the republicans did fifty percent better in state houses than in 1994 suggests a bubbling up effect which can be cemented in 2012.

Now the House has to get on with the job of defunding the Obama monstrosity, and pushing lower taxes, lower regulation, and smaller government. They won’t be able to get through the democrats in the Senate (probably) and definitely not past the president, staking out the field of battle for 2012. The democrats are always talking about ‘fighting’ for this or that (except actual military fighting). If the republicans do this right, the democrats will be fighting on losing ground for the next two years.

We’re Done For

with one comment

The greatest threat to the Republic since the Civil War, the most un-American President ever, and this is the best we can do.

I know, the opposition took the house. More senate seats changed party than the average. Whoopdeedoo.

A runaway liberal government which fundamentally altered the face of government, spent in one year what Bush spent in four, nationalized the auto industry, the financial services industry, healthcare, and prepared for more. (I know, the nationalization was not total, but it was enough to gain control.) An administration that changed the ground rules, and curtailed gun ownership.

All of this was expected. Now we’ve had a referendum on this administration’s overreach. Alas, it wasn’t enough. The nation has voted to return the House of Representatives to the Republicans as well as many governor’s mansions. Still the senate remains in the hands of the Democrats. In a year which voter anger surpassed that of 1994, that’s the best the Republicans could do,

It dooms us. Democrats still control too many of the levers of power, and they will continue to use them to their own benefit. The Republicans in power will still say ‘huh?’ and not know what is happening.

The voters reacted on the house level, but failed to realize that the cancer they despised ran from top to bottom. The Democrats will interpret this as anything but a repudiation of their policies. God help us all.

No Meg

I’m listening to Meg Whitman’s gracious concession speech, and her belief that Californians deserve the best.

Nonsense.

Californians deserve what they’ve voted for – crap.

They’ve voted for crap and crap they shall get.

Speaking of Nuts …

California has elected Jerry Brown governor … again.

Not to mention it appears Boxer will retain her senate seat.

It shall be fascinating to see what happens to CA when it becomes the first state to bankrupt itself on the liberal shoals. Astounding to watch the largest state in the US commit economic suicide.

I really have to ask what will it take for our country to wake the flock up to liberal idiocy?

While We’re At It

Delaware is nuts.

They rejected a candidate who once dated a witch for a candidate who referred to himself as a “bearded Marxist.”

Come on Delaware – are you really that stupid? No witch but a communist? It appears so.

Rossi Redux

leave a comment »

Washington state is still outstanding. At the moment, incumbent Patty Murray is ahead, but she certainly deserves to lose. It’s close.

Of course, Dino Rossi has seen this before. He’s had at least one statewide election stolen from him when Christine Gregoire cheated him out of the governorship. Their rematch was less clear – Gregoire might have actually won that one – but Rossi is now on his third statewide try.

I hope he pulls it out, but the man seems like Eeyore to me.
