Random thoughts and insights – always shaken, never stirred

As the House Goeth …

An interesting dynamic is developing this evening. The Republican candidates for the house are sweeping the races, while the various senate races are breaking on mostly local issues. I heard Joe Trippi earlier say that he felt the Republicans had made a mistake by not tying together all of the senate races but allowing them to run alone. I agree with him, and though the thought hadn’t occurred to me before, I think he put his finger right on it.

Still, it is fascinating to watch the house races – the members who the Founding Fathers envisioned closest to the people – breaking on national grounds. The senators – representing the states – breaking on local issues. That’s a really unexpected development from tonight.
