New Hampshire: Battleground State

New Hampshire, unlike Massachusetts, is a battleground state, and so we in Boston get to see more campaign commercials than we otherwise would since we’re the media market for southern NH. Still, I was unprepared for the number of Bush and Kerry signs on homes, businesses, fields, vehicles, and barns. I noted with interest that the signs ran about 50/50, true to the closely divided electorate there where Kerry holds a razor-thin lead in the current polls. Kerry seemed to hold a slight edge in the more populated south, but as we traveled north to farm country, Bush signs began to predominate – unless the farm had a Saab in the driveway. My favorite, however, was this one at a local VFW Hall:

I thought Kerry the war hero was supposed to have this vote locked up?
